WRITING WORKSHOP FOR KIDS: I’ve run creative writing workshops for kids at the Vienna International School, the American International School, and elsewhere in Vienna.
The workshops are small—six children maximum. The students can be in any grade from fourth grade through high school. We meet for one-and-a-half hours once a week for twelve weeks. The students write their own stories, share them with each other, give feedback, and keep on writing. I give tips from a published author’s point of view and teach lessons on writing techniques. At heart, it’s a creative, vibrant workshop for kids who love to read and write stories. Because there are 4 to 6 children per workshop, I am able to offer the workshop for a reasonable fee per child.
I started writing stories in fourth grade and never stopped because I had a fourth grade teacher who gave us ample time for creative writing. I run these workshops so that kids like me who might become authors have the same chance that I did.
