The Helpers

By Yoko Tanaka

Independent bookstores have named The Witch‘s Guide to Cooking with Children an “inspired recommendation for children.”

The Witchs Guide to Cooking With Children is a wonderful remake of the tale of Hansel and Gretel.- Judith Lafitte, Octavia Books, New Orleans, LA.

“Fans of Lemony Snicket… should love Keith McGowan’s beguiling debut… Yoko Tanaka’s ghostly, Charles Addams-like drawings cast their own spell over a story that’s scary, funny, and subversive.”

- USA Today

Humor that will delight and challenge the inquisitive youngster… gorgeous full-page illustrations.”- New Yorker (online Books Dept)

“You need to read this book.”

- BookPeople Indie Bookstore, Austin, TX.

Nuanced, fascinating, and gratifyingly dark . . . Sol and Connie are appealing in their individuality and in their at times prickly sibling relationship.” - Bulletin for the Center of Children's Books
